Principal Math Maven

Mr. Teo Wee Toon

You can plan all you want in life, but life will never play along with all your plans.

Being a teacher was never a job that I dreamt of when I was growing up. But it has become a job that I grew to love deeply and it has been both a joy and a privilege to watch so many young minds grow. My school career had brought me in touch with pupils of differing abilities and background and I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with all.

The subject Mathematics has always been a favourite of mine. I was never tired of Mathematics homework and as a teacher, it was incredible fun setting questions that seemed tough but can be unlocked with a simple "aha" solution.

Why the name "Math Mavens"? The word "Mavens" is defined as "trusted experts in a particular field, who seek to pass knowledge on to others". The word comes from Hebrew – it means one who understands, based on an accumulation of knowledge.

I hope to pass on my love and knowledge of Mathematics to my students and help them become confident and passionate Mathematicians. One who can see Mathematics Learning beyond worksheets and into real-life applications too.

Senior Math Mavens

Mr. Wong Tuck Weng

It is with great pleasure for me to be given the opportunity to join Math Mavens Learning Centre and continue my personal mission of teaching students a subject that I have loved from a young age. I have always been intrigued and fascinated by the relevance to and applications of the subject in our daily lives, and am passionate to instil into our students the necessary life-skills that comes along with mastering the subject.

I have honed my teaching craft over the course of my 18 years in the teaching service with MOE, teaching students of varied and differing abilities from high ability to low progress students, and it has always given me great pleasure and satisfaction knowing that I have played a part in a student's growth in the subject, whether by short term indicators of improvements in their test scores or testimonials many years down the road as I continue to stay in touch with many of them.

As a tutor at Math Mavens Learning Centre, you can be assured of nothing less than my best efforts to help our students achieve their fullest potential in the subject.

Miss. Patricia Eng

I chose to join Math Mavens because it gives me the opportunity to continuously develop my craft. I want to be part of a team with a passion for teaching mathematics.

I have been teaching mathematics for 19 years. In that time, I had the opportunity to teach students of varying abilities and interest in mathematics. I enjoy thinking of ways to help my students understand concepts, as well as, develop their interest in mathematics. It gives me great pleasure to share the sense of satisfaction with my students as they see improvement in their results. It is a joy to watch them grow in confidence especially in students who initially did not like mathematics.
